It’s been a 14 year dream! Butita says after meeting Steve Harvey

Content creator Eddie Butita was delighted after meeting American television host Steve Harvey.

Butita is part of the entourage accompanying President William Ruto on his state visit to the United States.

The content creator revealed details of his conversation with Harvey and said the meeting was a dream come true.

On Tuesday, Ruto, among other leaders, visited the Tyler Perry studio in Atlanta, where they met with the celebrated television host and comedian.

“I saw you on YouTube,” Steve Harvey told Butita.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for this honorable connection. Meeting Steve Harvey has been a dream for the past 14 years and today it has become a reality,” Harvey added.

Butita revealed that he spoke to Harvey about ways to improve showbiz in Kenya.

“We had great conversations about how to equip and train talent for business success in entertainment; it’s entertainment and business and I’m happy that our creatives are being considered in these conversations,” he said.

Before leaving for the United States, Butita expressed joy and thanked the President for the opportunity.

“Today I am leaving for the United States. Thank you, His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto, for choosing me to accompany you to the state visit to the United States of America hosted by the President of the United States, His Excellency President Joe Biden,” he said in a statement.

“The fact that he is part of the head of the state delegation is a clear signal and we are happy that the creative industry is part of the conversations we are going to have during this trip.”

This will not be the first time that Butita interacts with the President.

In March, Butita jokingly advised Ruto to monetize his Facebook page so he could make more money.

Speaking in the House of Representatives during the president’s meeting with Facebook’s management team on monetization, Butita said: “Last year, Mr. President, you mentioned that I earn more than your salary, I think this year you will surpass me because you have a page of Facebook, all you have to do is monetize it.”

The comedian said in a light tone that the president would make “good money after taxes” if he followed his advice.

Ruto claimed in 2023 that Butita earned more from content creation compared to what he took home as head of state.
