Ex-wives, police officers, alleged gangsters, a lawyer, a brewery owner and a politician on Kilian’s ping list

Seventy-two per cent of murder-accused Zane Kilian’s messages were addressed to people in Cape Town and included nine police officers and alleged underworld figures, the Western Cape High Court heard on Tuesday.

Testifying at the trial of Nafiz Modack, Kilian and 13 others centered on the murder of Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) detective Charl Kinnear, Hawks captain Eddie du Plessis said he approached all people Kilian called to verify his explanation that he was working on vehicle repossessions.

“None of these people had vehicles that could be repossessed,” Du Plessis said dryly.
