North Cork property set alight as Gardai call witnesses to criminal incident

Criminals targeted residential properties, including a property that was damaged by a fire in Mallow. Gardai have launched an appeal for any witnesses who have information about the arson attacks that occurred last month.

On the night of April 28, four empty houses in the Rosehall housing estate on the outskirts of the city were attacked. Gardai are investigating an incident which occurred shortly before midnight in which a property was set on fire and criminal damage was attempted at three other adjacent properties.

It has been confirmed that all four properties were empty at the time. There were local rumors about plans for the houses in North Cork, but it is understood that the properties in question were not intended to house international protection applicants.

GardaĆ are appealing for witnesses to the crimes at Rosehall in Mallow and are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.

A Garda spokesperson said: “In particular, people may have been in the areas of Rose Garden, Rosehall, Annabella, in Mallow between 11pm on 27 April 2024 and 12.30am on April 28, 2024.”

Road users who have footage from cameras (including dash cam) traveling in the area at the time are asked to make this available to GardaĆ. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
