Boy dies after falling from upper floor in south London

A boy died after falling from an upper floor in south London, police said.

Police and paramedics were called to Hotspur Street, Brixton, this afternoon after reports that a child had fallen from a building.

The boy, whose age is still unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second person, an adult woman, was taken to the hospital.

The Metropolitan Police were called to the scene at 4.23pm along with the London Ambulance Service.

A police statement said: “Despite their efforts, the child was pronounced dead. The child’s family has been informed.

“At this early stage there is nothing to indicate that the incident is suspicious, however inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”

A cordon is maintained around the place.
