Naira appreciates again against the dollar

The naira ended the week appreciating marginally against the dollar in the official foreign exchange market.

FMDQ data showed that the naira appreciated to N1,482.81 per dollar on Friday from N1,485.66 on Thursday.

This represents a slight appreciation of N2.85 compared to N1,485.66 per dollar traded on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the naira depreciated to N1,510 per dollar on Friday in the parallel market from N1,460.

In the last week, the naira recorded depreciation in the official and parallel markets on Thursday.

The news comes a day after the Central Bank of Nigeria released new guidelines, ordering all exchange house operators in the country to reapply for licences.

However, the president of the Association of Exchange Offices of Nigeria, ABCON, asked the apex bank to review the minimum capital requirements for its members.
