Eskom’s board approved the decision to operate the Hendrina, Grootvlei and Camden power stations until 2030, after their original decommissioning schedule.

Eskom group generation executive Bheki Nxumalo shared on Monday during a briefing on the Energy Action Plan that the new timeline for the decommissioning of the plants would be determined at a later stage.

“We have recently received board approval to operate three of our power plants, Hendrina, Grootvlei and Camden, until 2030,” he told reporters at Megawatt Park.
