Poultry shop fire considered suspicious in western Sydney

Investigators are treating a poultry shop fire as suspicious after hundreds of residents woke up to flames early this morning in Western Sydney.

Emergency services were called after the fire broke out at the fast food outlet on Burroway Road in Wentworth Point at around 1.45am

“There were no reports of any people being injured,” New South Wales Police said in a statement.

“The fire is considered suspicious.”

9News understands an abandoned drum was found on the ground near the store.

Residents of the apartments above the store woke up this morning to the sound of the fire and alarms.

Crews managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other stores or apartments.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.
