Detectives testify about hour-long raid on Maina Njenga’s home

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) testified about a 5am raid on former leader Mungiki Maina Njenga’s home on May 12, 2023.

Constable Athumani Asmani testified that they met at the Lanet police station around 4am.

Asmani told Chief Magistrate Kipkurui Kibelion that about 20 sub-county officers from Nakuru West, Nakuru East, Lanet and Bahati were present.

“They called me at night and informed me that we were going to raid Maina Njenga’s house,” he testified.

He said they left the police station and headed to Njenga’s house, where uniformed officers went to the door.

“The team led by Superintendent Wesley Langat ordered one of the accused, Daudi Mwangi, to open the door before we could all enter,” he said.

Asmani testified that at first Mwangi, who was also the caretaker, resisted, but after 15 minutes he opened the door.
