Incredible footballer: Miroslav Klose names the most successful German player

Former Germany international Miroslav Klose has described Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos as “the most successful German footballer”.

He said this following Kroos’ decision to end his football career after this year’s European Championship in Germany.

Kroos, just 34 years old, will also retire from club football and that will be after playing in the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder is the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history.

He has played 463 games for Los Blancos since arriving in 2014, winning 22 titles.

The 34-year-old has won four Champions Leagues and as many La Liga titles.

He is also a World Cup winner, having won the coveted trophy in 2014, alongside Klose.

He said through journalist Philipp Kessler: “There are no words for Kroos. To fight like this to make his way at Real Madrid, to play such a strong role in such a great team, with players, even in the national team, admiring him, is incredible.

“The most important thing about him is that he has remained normal despite his great successes. That impresses me. That is his great strength. The humanity that characterizes him is unbeatable. There aren’t as many hats as I’d like to give you.

“He has achieved a lot. I’m happy for him because he deserves everything, he has earned everything himself. My last game was the World Cup final when we beat Argentina at the Maracaná. I wish Toni a similar retirement.

“He is already the most successful German footballer. Now he can win two more titles with the Champions League and the Euro Cup. I keep my fingers crossed for him. That would be the dignified farewell that he deserves.”
