Mwesigwa Rukutana’s missing nephew found dead

Félix Kamwesiga, 27, missing for five days, has been found dead.

Kamwesiga is the nephew of former deputy attorney general Mwesigwa Rukutana.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, Kamwesiga’s body was found at Mulago Mortuary and was taken there by Kabalagala Police officers.

Owoyesigyire said a team of investigators from Katwe police is heading to the crime scene around Kabalagala areas to establish the circumstances that led to his death.

According to our sources, who preferred not to be named because they never wanted to speak to the media for fear of jeopardizing the investigations, the deceased Kamwesiga was working with a labor recruitment company.

“The CEO of T and N Miracle Agencies Management regrets to announce the demise of his staff Kamwesiga Felix. He was last seen on Friday in our offices at 5 pm. Anyone who knows his whereabouts should report to any nearby police station or call the director general…” states a statement from his employer.

Earlier in the day, Rukutana had told our reporter that he was restless after his nephew had been missing for four days and that he needed time as he had obtained some links about his whereabouts.

“My nephew Kamwesiga went missing on Friday night. He was last seen in Makindye around 4am on Saturday. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts is welcome and will be rewarded,” Rukutana posted on his WhatsApp status.

In one of the messages mourning Kamwesiga’s death, his relative wrote: “I still find it hard to believe you are gone. I want this to be all fake news and for you to be alive and well. The funniest brother I know. May God grant them eternal rest…” he says.

There have been several cases of missing people being found dead recently.

Last week, police said a special contract driver, Sonny Serwano Bamujje, a resident of Ndejje Lubugumu in Ssabagabo, Wakiso District, went missing and was later found dead in Nakaseke Swamp.

Furthermore, the police indicated a few days ago that the body of Makerere University professor Julius Mugaga was found floating in Lake Victoria on Thursday last week by fishermen on Senene Island, after he too had been missing for some days.

In February 2024, the body of Derrick Genza, who had been missing for seven days, was found on the side of the road in Bujuuko, Mpigi District, along the Kampala-Mityana highway.
