South Africa and Benin must win the matches for the Eagles: Ndidi

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has revealed that Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin respectively are must-win matches.

This was stated in an interview on Arise TV, where he noted that the players are not happy with the team’s current position in the group.

Ndidi, who played a key role in Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League, said the players are eager to set the tone with wins.

“Yes, (the games) are really important because we know where we are at the moment. “It’s not a good position to be in, to be honest, we have to be honest with ourselves.”

“As long as you are in that group you want to qualify, so there will be no small countries or small teams.”

“Where we are right now gives us more pressure, because these games are games we must win. I’m not saying that we will win the game, but I am saying that they are games that we must win because we don’t know what is going to happen, but everything affects us as a team because we know what we have in hand and then we know that we have to achieve everything we can in these two games to get up there,” Ndidi said.
