The curfew is renewed in the municipalities of Alavanyo and Nkonya

The Minister of the Interior, Henry Quartey, has renewed by executive instrument the curfew imposed in the municipalities of Alavanyo and Nkonya and their surroundings in the Oti region.

The curfew now extends from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, effective Sunday, May 19, 2024.

In a statement, the Ministry explained that the decision was based on the advice of the Oti Regional Coordinating Council to improve security and maintain peace in the affected communities.

The statement praised the cooperation of chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and residents for their compliance with curfew regulations.

“The government continues to express its gratitude to the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area for their efforts in ensuring peace in the area and urges them to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of all their conflicts and disputes “. the statement noted.

In the meantime, carrying weapons, ammunition or any offensive weapons is prohibited, and anyone found with weapons or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.
