Amupanda promoted to associate professor at Unam – News

Activist and presidential candidate Job Amupanda has been promoted from the rank of senior lecturer to associate professor of political studies at the University of Namibia (Unam).

Amupanda said the promotion is a certification of meeting all the requirements of a specified number of academic research publications, a number of years of teaching and teaching-related competencies, and a meritorious portfolio of community involvement as specified in the policy of academic promotions of the university.

Furthermore, this follows multi-level assessments and evaluations, including an external evaluation by international academics from international universities holding the rank of professors.

“Becoming a teacher was always a goal I had to fulfill during my youth. At 36 years of age, I thus become the youngest professor of political studies at the University of Namibia and indeed in our beautiful country,” Amupanda said.

Lesley Blaauw, from the same department, was also promoted from associate professor to full professor.
