Kenya and Israel strengthen medical ties with new collaboration initiatives

Department of State Medical Services Principal Secretary Harry Kimtai received a delegation from the Embassy of the State of Israel led by Ambassador Michael Lotem on May 21, 2024.

According to a statement shared by the Ministry of Health on X, the meeting focused on enhancing collaboration and bilateral relations between Kenya and Israel.

The discussions covered several key areas of cooperation, including the exchange of doctors specializing in emergency medicine and pediatrics from the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.

Additionally, the Israeli delegation pledged to donate state-of-the-art portable ultrasound equipment to diagnose trauma and internal injuries during disasters, as stated by the Ministry of Health.

“The cooperation also extends to training primary health care workers in the use of the donated machines, supporting Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage initiative,” Kimtai said.
